AQUASANA WATER FILTERS

We designed our two-stage Undercounter Twin Superior Water Filter based on specifications that have long been favored by Dr. Andrew Weil.

The Undercounter Twin Superior combines the filtering power of the Matrix Pb-1 filter, plus a 5-stage primary filter. The 5-stage primary filter utilizes KDF (a powerful reduction-oxidation compound) and the adsorptive power of GAC (granular activated carbon). These compounds are separated by 3 layers of 5 micron sediment reducing filter elements. This combination is particularly effective. This unit provides clear, great-tasting water at a cost of less than 2 cents per gallon. The Undercounter Twin Superior replacement filter cartridges, WR004 - $49.76 per set, are tested beyond 2500 gallons.

All Superior series water filters are assembled from NSF Approved components, and designed to meet or exceed ANSI/NSF Standards for materials.

These products are a cost-effective alternative to our higher priced lines. We are confident in their performance and effectiveness, because all the individual components are tested and NSF certified for materials or components and the filter element manufacturers have done extensive and continual testing. We recommend annual replacement of the filter cartridges.

 

THE IMPORTANCE OF A SHOWER FILTER

Higher doses of Chlorine and dangerous volatile organic compounds (VOC's) are absorbed through the skin while bathing or showering than are absorbed by drinking water. The American Journal of Public Health, Vol.74, No. 5, concluded that skin absorption of contaminants in drinking water has been underestimated and that ingestion may not constitute the sole or even primary source of exposure.

The Center for Environmental Epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh found that at normal shower temperatures, about 50% of the dissolved chloroform (a carcinogenic chlorinated volatile organic chemical) in municipally treated water escapes into the air. . .before the water reaches the floor. The remaining chloroform is still available in the shower water for absorption through the skin. The exposure to chloroform in the shower can exceed that from drinking water by 600%
